Communist Party USA
On the political map: Strongly left economically · socially progressive
Founded in 1919, the Communist Party USA is a Marxist-Leninist party calling for public ownership of major industry and finance, a democratically planned economy run by and for workers, and an end to what it sees as U.S. imperialism abroad. Over the past several decades it has shifted from running its own national candidates toward labor and community organizing and supporting the broad left.
