Election night, live
Every count against the margin we predicted. A blue number means the Democrat is running ahead of our prediction; a red one, the Republican.
Counts as of 6:13 PM ET, refreshing every minute. Vote data from civicAPI.
States running ahead of or behind our prediction
Each state's House districts, the average of how far each one's count is from our predicted margin. When a state's districts all lean the same way, that is a real shift. When they split, it is more likely the candidates. Open a state to see its districts.
No district has 50% of its count in yet. The first polls close at 6 p.m. ET, and the first states appear here once their counts are half done.
Senate and governor
| Race | Predicted | Count | Vs. prediction | Reporting |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| New Hampshire governor | R+11.7 | R+71.4 | too early | 0% |
| New Hampshire Senate | D+8.1 | R+42.9 | too early | 0% |
| Kentucky Senate | R+16.3 | R+47.3 | too early | 16% |
Margins are the top Democrat minus the top Republican, as shares of all votes counted. Predictions are our final calls, frozen the day before the election. Partial counts can mislead: states count mail and election-day ballots in different orders, so a race opens far from where it ends. That is why a race below 50% counted shows “too early” and stays out of every average. Races with no Democrat or no Republican on the ballot have no margin and are left out. Called races and the final report card are on results.
